Accident & Breakdown — ASTERIA Car Luxury
1. Purpose and Scope
This policy explains the steps to take if a rental vehicle is involved in an accident, suffers damage, is stolen or becomes unusable due to a breakdown in Morocco. It primarily concerns self-drive rentals. Chauffeur-driven bookings and motorcycle rentals may be subject to additional, vehicle-specific arrangements.
The rental agreement, the applicable insurance policy and Moroccan law govern each incident. This information does not replace those documents.
2. Immediate Safety Measures
Stop in a safe place whenever possible, switch off the engine if appropriate and protect passengers and other road users. Do not drive a vehicle that may be unsafe.
In the event of injuries, fire, danger or a serious collision, contact the appropriate local emergency services and competent authorities without delay. Seek medical care where needed.
Do not place yourself or others at risk to take photographs or recover personal belongings.
3. Notify ASTERIA Promptly
Contact ASTERIA Car Luxury as soon as it is safe to do so using the contact details provided in your booking documents. Explain your location, vehicle details, what occurred and whether anyone is injured.
Phone: +212 688 600 000
4. Police Reports and Accident Documentation
Where the circumstances or Moroccan procedures require it, inform the police or gendarmerie and obtain the appropriate official report, accident statement or other supporting documentation. Follow applicable instructions for incidents involving injuries, third parties, theft or disputed responsibility.
Record the date, time, location, registration numbers and contact or insurance details of the parties concerned when it is safe and lawful to do so. Take clear photographs of vehicles, damage and the scene if circumstances permit.
Provide truthful, complete information. Do not sign an inaccurate statement or admit liability on behalf of ASTERIA or its insurer.
5. What Not to Do After an Incident
Do not continue driving a vehicle that appears mechanically unsafe. Do not abandon it without agreeing on a safe custody or recovery arrangement, except when necessary to protect life or safety.
Do not arrange significant repairs, replacement parts, towing at an unreasonable cost or settlement with a third party without prior approval from ASTERIA or the relevant assistance provider, except for urgent measures reasonably necessary for immediate safety. Keep receipts for any authorised emergency expense.
6. Mechanical Breakdown and Warning Lights
If a warning light, unusual noise, overheating, tyre issue or mechanical fault occurs, stop safely when appropriate and inform ASTERIA. Provide a description, photographs where helpful and your precise location.
A breakdown not attributable to misuse or negligence will be assessed under the rental agreement and the vehicle’s condition. ASTERIA will coordinate reasonable next steps, which may include technical guidance, recovery or repair. Timing and availability depend on location and circumstances.
Tyre damage, loss of keys, wrong fuel, battery discharge or other incidents may be treated differently depending on their cause, coverage and the agreed terms.
7. Roadside Assistance, Towing and Replacement Vehicles
Do not assume that every incident includes free roadside assistance, towing, a replacement vehicle or immediate collection. The applicable coverage and any costs depend on the rental agreement, assistance provider, nature of the incident and availability.
Where practical, ASTERIA may try to arrange an appropriate mobility solution. A replacement vehicle is not automatic, may differ by category and remains subject to availability, eligibility and agreed pricing or policy conditions.
8. Accident Responsibility and Insurance Excess
Cars, SUVs and vans are subject to comprehensive motor insurance according to the relevant policy, its limits, exclusions and conditions. Where an accident is attributable to the renter or an authorised driver, the agreed insurance excess may apply.
The security deposit is not the same as the insurance excess. Any deduction or separate amount claimed must have a contractual and lawful basis and should be supported by appropriate documentation.
For details, read the Insurance & Protection policy.
9. Damage, Depreciation, VAT and Vehicle Downtime
Insurer payments may be limited by deductibles, depreciation, VAT treatment or exclusions. Such differences are not automatically payable by the renter. Any claim against a renter requires an established basis of responsibility, actual substantiated loss and compliance with the contract and Moroccan law.
If vehicle downtime results in a legally recoverable loss of rental earnings, ASTERIA will assess the actual documented net loss attributable to the incident, not simply multiply the advertised daily rate by the number of repair days. Relevant insurer payments, avoided costs and replacement income must be taken into account to prevent double recovery.
10. Theft, Vandalism and Loss of Keys
Report suspected theft, vandalism or disappearance of the vehicle promptly to the competent authorities and ASTERIA. Supply the official report and cooperate with requests for keys, documents, location data and relevant circumstances, where lawful.
Lost keys, documents, accessories and personal belongings are treated according to the applicable rental terms and insurance protections. Keep your personal valuables secure; do not assume that items left in the vehicle are insured.
11. Motorcycles and Special Vehicles
Motorcycles are subject to the legally required third-party civil liability insurance but do not benefit from comprehensive own-damage cover for the motorcycle itself. Responsibility for motorcycle damage is determined by the accepted rental agreement, established circumstances and applicable law.
Luxury, specialty and partner-supplied vehicles may have additional incident-reporting procedures, assistance restrictions or excess amounts, disclosed as applicable.
12. Cooperation, Evidence and Final Assessment
The renter and any authorised driver must cooperate reasonably with ASTERIA, the insurer, assistance services and competent authorities. Preserve relevant documentation, including photographs, reports, correspondence and receipts.
Any charge, excess, repair cost or other documented loss will be reviewed case by case under the applicable agreement and law. The customer may request supporting explanations and raise any disagreement using the contact information below.
