Terms & Conditions

ASTERIA Car Luxury | Self-Drive Car and Motorcycle Rental in Morocco

These Terms & Conditions govern eligible self-drive rentals arranged with ASTERIA Car Luxury, operated by ASTERIA Car SARL in Morocco. Please read them before confirming a booking. The terms and charges applicable to a particular vehicle will be disclosed before confirmation.

1. Scope and Contractual Documents

These Terms apply to self-drive cars, SUVs, vans and, where specifically offered and confirmed, motorcycles. Chauffeur-driven services, airport transfers, corporate transport services and long-term rentals may be subject to separate or additional conditions, communicated before agreement.

The quotation, booking confirmation, signed Rental Agreement and any clearly agreed vehicle-specific terms form part of the contractual documentation. They establish the vehicle or category, dates, pickup and return locations, price, mileage, fuel arrangements, deposit, applicable insurance terms, insurance excess and agreed additional services. Mandatory rights under Moroccan law remain applicable.

2. Vehicle Categories and Availability

ASTERIA may offer Economy, Comfort, SUV, Premium and Luxury vehicles, subject to availability. Motorcycle rental is available only when expressly advertised or confirmed.

Where a specific make and model has been confirmed, ASTERIA will use reasonable efforts to supply it. If it becomes unavailable, ASTERIA may propose an alternative and disclose any change to the price or material terms. The customer may accept or decline the proposed alternative. If the agreed service cannot be provided, any refund or other remedy will be determined under the booking terms and applicable law.

3. Driver Eligibility and Required Documents

Every driver must hold a valid licence legally recognised for the vehicle concerned in Morocco and comply with any vehicle-specific age, licence-category, driving-experience and insurance requirements. These requirements will be stated or communicated before booking confirmation.

Customers may be asked to provide a valid passport or identity document, driving licence and payment details needed for the agreed rental. A translation or International Driving Permit may be required in circumstances provided for by Moroccan law or the applicable rental conditions; it is not automatically required of every foreign visitor. Only drivers expressly authorised in the Rental Agreement may drive the vehicle.

For details, see Driver Requirements.

4. Motorcycle-Specific Rental Conditions

Motorcycles are not covered for damage to the rented motorcycle under a comprehensive own-damage insurance policy. The applicable compulsory third-party liability cover is distinct from cover for loss of or damage to the motorcycle itself.

Before confirmation, ASTERIA will specify the required licence category, rider eligibility, permitted use, security deposit, equipment supplied, and conditions governing loss of or damage to the motorcycle. The rider must use legally required protective equipment and comply with applicable road-safety obligations. Passengers are permitted only if the motorcycle is approved for them and the rental conditions allow them.

The rider’s financial responsibility for damage or loss of the rented motorcycle is assessed under the Rental Agreement, supported evidence and applicable Moroccan law; it is not an automatic, unlimited charge merely because the vehicle is a motorcycle.

5. Reservation and Confirmation

A booking request is subject to availability and becomes confirmed only when ASTERIA expressly accepts it and any agreed advance payment or other specified booking requirement is completed.

The customer must provide accurate booking and driver information. The applicable price, payment schedule and important rental restrictions will be communicated before confirmation. Customers must have an opportunity to review and expressly accept the applicable terms before completing an online booking.

6. Rental Prices and Payments

Rental charges depend on the vehicle or category, rental duration, agreed locations and optional services. Any additional fees for delivery, collection, extra drivers, equipment or other requested services must be disclosed in the quotation, confirmation or Rental Agreement.

Prices, taxes, payment methods, due dates and any additional charges will be stated in the applicable rental documentation. ASTERIA will not treat a charge as agreed merely because it is mentioned in a general policy without the required prior disclosure.

7. Security Deposit and Card Pre-authorisation

A refundable security deposit or payment-card pre-authorisation may be required before delivery. Its amount and form depend on the rental and will be communicated before confirmation.

A card pre-authorisation generally reserves an amount against the card’s available limit without being an immediate payment. After the return inspection and account reconciliation, ASTERIA will request release of the unused pre-authorised amount. The issuing bank controls when released funds become available to the cardholder.

Any justified deduction or additional payment must comply with the Rental Agreement and applicable law and, where appropriate, be supported by an inspection report, invoices or other relevant evidence. The deposit and the insurance excess are separate concepts.

8. Delivery and Collection

Vehicles may be delivered to or collected from airports, hotels, residences, offices or other agreed locations in Morocco. Delivery and collection may involve different charges depending on distance, location, time, vehicle category and logistical arrangements.

Applicable charges will be communicated before the booking is confirmed. Customers should notify ASTERIA promptly of changes to flight details, pickup time or return arrangements. Changes remain subject to acceptance and availability.

See Delivery & Collection.

9. Rental Period, Extensions and Late Returns

The vehicle must be returned on the agreed date, at the agreed time and location. An extension must be requested and approved before the rental period expires. Returning to another location requires prior agreement.

A late or unauthorised return may result in reasonable additional rental, collection or recovery charges where these have a valid contractual and legal basis. Their calculation will reflect the actual circumstances and disclosed rental conditions.

10. Mileage and Fuel

The mileage allowance and any excess-kilometre rate will be specified in the booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Unlimited mileage applies only where expressly confirmed.

Unless otherwise agreed, the vehicle must be returned with the fuel level recorded at delivery. Missing fuel and any previously disclosed reasonable refuelling charge may be billed. The initial fuel level should be recorded in the delivery documentation.

11. Vehicle Condition and Permitted Use

The condition of the vehicle should be documented at pickup and return, including visible damage, mileage, fuel level, keys and accessories. Customers should report any discrepancy not recorded at pickup. Normal wear and tear is not treated as chargeable damage.

The vehicle must not be driven by unauthorised persons, sub-rented, used for racing or unlawful purposes, deliberately overloaded, driven under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or taken outside Morocco without ASTERIA’s prior written authorisation. Off-road use is prohibited unless expressly authorised for the particular vehicle. Serious misuse may affect insurance coverage and constitute grounds for lawful termination.

12. Insurance Cover for Cars, SUVs and Vans

Self-drive cars, SUVs and vans supplied by ASTERIA are insured under comprehensive motor insurance, subject to the actual policy, coverage limits, exclusions, claims procedures and terms applicable to each vehicle.

Comprehensive motor insurance does not mean that every loss is covered or that an insurer will reimburse 100% of every claim. The applicable insurance excess and any material exclusions will be communicated in the rental documentation.

Motorcycles are governed by the separate insurance and responsibility conditions described in Section 4.

See Insurance & Protection.

13. Responsible Accidents, Insurance Excess and Uninsured Losses

Where an accident is attributable to the renter or an authorised driver, the renter may be responsible for the applicable contractual insurance excess, subject to the insurance policy, the Rental Agreement, the evidence of responsibility and Moroccan law. The amount of the excess, or a clear method for determining it, must be disclosed before booking confirmation.

An insurer may apply deductions for depreciation of parts, may not reimburse some VAT amounts, and may exclude certain related losses. Such insurance shortfalls are not automatically payable by the renter. ASTERIA may seek compensation only where there is a valid contractual and legal basis, a loss actually borne by ASTERIA, an established link to the renter’s responsibility and adequate supporting documentation. VAT that ASTERIA can recover or deduct is not a compensable loss.

Where the renter is not responsible for an incident, any proposed charge will be assessed in light of the established facts, supporting documents, the policy and the applicable law; a charge cannot be justified solely because an insurer paid less than the amount claimed. No loss may be recovered twice.

14. Accidents, Theft, Damage and Breakdowns

In the event of an accident, theft, damage or breakdown, the customer must first take reasonable steps to protect people and then contact ASTERIA as soon as reasonably possible. Where required, the competent authorities must be informed and the appropriate accident report or official documentation obtained.

Customers must cooperate with reasonable claims procedures and should not authorise substantial repairs without ASTERIA’s prior approval, except where immediately necessary for safety. Assistance or replacement arrangements depend on the circumstances and the agreed rental terms.

See Accident & Breakdown.

15. Vehicle Downtime and Actual Documented Loss of Rental Income

If a rented vehicle becomes unavailable for rental as a direct result of an incident for which the renter is legally responsible, ASTERIA may seek compensation for actual, reasonably documented net financial loss directly attributable to the incident, subject to the Rental Agreement and Moroccan law.

The assessment may consider workshop and repair records, affected bookings, customer correspondence, relevant rental history and accounting documents. Reasonable operating costs avoided, income preserved through replacement arrangements, and insurance or third-party payments covering the same loss must be taken into account.

The advertised daily rental rate multiplied by the period of immobilisation does not, by itself, establish the amount due. Unreasonable or unjustified repair delays will not be charged to the renter. ASTERIA will provide an itemised explanation and appropriate evidence for a claim, and the customer may dispute it. There will be no double recovery for the same loss.

16. Traffic Fines, Keys, Documents and Exceptional Cleaning

The renter is responsible for traffic violations, parking fines, tolls and similar charges attributable to their rental period, together with reasonable administrative fees previously disclosed where legally permitted.

Keys, documents and accessories supplied with the vehicle must be returned. Loss, damage or exceptional cleaning beyond normal use may result in reasonable charges, supported by evidence and in accordance with the Rental Agreement and applicable law.

17. Cancellation, Booking Changes, No-Shows and Early Returns

Cancellation, change and no-show conditions are governed by the policy and any vehicle-specific conditions disclosed and accepted at the time of booking, without prejudice to mandatory consumer rights.

Specially sourced, high-value or individually negotiated bookings may have specific cancellation terms, provided these were clearly communicated and accepted beforehand. Early return does not automatically entitle the renter to a refund for unused days, subject to the agreed terms and applicable law.

See Cancellation & Refund Policy.

18. Termination of the Rental

Subject to Moroccan law, ASTERIA may terminate a rental and request return of the vehicle following a serious contractual breach, such as fraudulent documents, dangerous or unauthorised use, serious misuse or material non-payment.

Any resulting charges or damages must be justified, proportionate where required, and determined in accordance with the applicable contract and law.

19. Personal Data and Privacy

Personal information used for reservations, rentals, payments, customer support, fraud prevention, legal requirements and claims will be handled in accordance with applicable Moroccan data-protection rules.

For information about data use and customer rights, see Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

20. Complaints, Governing Law and Contact

Customers wishing to raise a concern about a rental, deposit, damage assessment or additional charge may contact ASTERIA at contact@asteriacarluxury.com, providing the booking reference and any relevant documentation. An amicable resolution will be sought wherever possible.

These Terms and the Rental Agreement are governed by the applicable laws of the Kingdom of Morocco. Any unresolved dispute will be referred to the legally competent authority or court. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights.
